Their new watch is called the Calibre
de Cartier Diver, and in steel it costs £5,700. Not exactly a drop in the
ocean, but in the world of luxury watches, not eye-wateringly expensive either.
So
far, so technical. But because this is Cartier, it’s got some dandyish flair,
too. The case has been thinned to just 11mm, which is impressively skinny for a
watch that’s water-resistant to 300 metres. And Cartier has made sure its
signature Roman-numeral-dial and sapphire cabochon set into the crown are in
place, too – a sign it wants you to feel you can wear this watch with a
wetsuit, a three-piece suit and everything in between. And, frankly, you
should.
